For Those Who Can Not Speak Are Screaming With One Tongue

In this time, like every other time, the super powers get to choose who gets equity, who gets opportunity, who gets health care, who gets education, who gets to migrate, who gets to survive, and who gets to thrive. I listen to the voices of the people in my direct surroundings, as each human right is taken in for questioning: for re acquisition, for re colonizing. Our personal identities are questioned. The manufactured fear of the other taking our crumbs away distracts us from who is really doing the taking.

In exercises of deep listening, participating artists and I attempt to intuit the internalized screams of grief, anguish and mourning of our audience; expressing them by matching the billowing breath of the accordion and the screams of the trumpet with our own experience of listening from inside our workshop space to the exterior sidewalk of the busy streets.
August 19, 2018 Solo performance using accordion in Other Worlds curated by Martin Durazo at Charlie James Gallery, Los Angeles CA.
July, 15-20, 2019 Inspired by Pauline Oliveros' theories and excercises in deep listening; 3 day workshop was held and group performances using 2 accordions, trumpet, and 6 voices at Museo De LA Cuidad, Mexico City, Mexico.
